Science Studios for Designscape
Model @ 1:200 scale
Materials - acrylic and etched metal
Science Studio was a fascinating model to work on as it is the site in Stroud where Damien Hirst makes his formaldehyde sculptures.
This windowless building lets daylight in exclusively from the roof lights, represented here with clear acrylic.
The distinctive seams of the aluminium clad walls have blue tape on one side and green tape on the other so appearing different colours depending on which way you look along the façades.
These were represented on the model by small L-shaped sections of etched silver nickel sprayed blue and green on alternating sides.
Some of the entrance lobby and café area can been seen through the glazed front section while the roof sections are removable to allow the viewer to see the rest of the interior spaces.
