Materials - cherry wood, acrylic, maple veneer and etched brass
This model was for the sales department of Royal William Yard, Plymouth to communicate the two floors of this duplex apartment, to potential buyers, and how they tie in with the original features of this amazing building.
The roof section removes to allow views inside but the cherry wood rafters remain to show the roof line in relation to the mezzanine floor.
Whilst keeping the interior of the spaces minimal the 1:20 scale allowed a lot of original detailing on the exterior façade and top services compartment.
The exterior stonework is made from laser cut acrylic and the louvres from brass etch, sprayed white.
Sectional models are so useful in allowing the viewer to really understand spaces, like for instance headroom under sloping ceilings, that are otherwise tricky to communicate through other methods.
