Materials - lime timber, maple veneer, acrylic and etched brass
This large site in a very wooded area around Kirkstall Forge railway station demanded a sensitive approach to the model so we chose natural materials of timber and cork to represent this proposal.
Tonally the lime timber, maple veneer and cork trees work harmoniously and the pale blue focuses the viewer to the River Aire running right through the centre of the site.
The scale of 1:1000 doesn’t allow much detail, so the scheme buildings are quite simple but we chose interesting material combinations of brass etch, veneer, frosted acrylic and lime timber to make them stand out from the context buildings.
